YSU is offering their 23rd Annual Edward W. Powers Women in STEM Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Career Workshop on Saturday, March 21, 2020. 

The Women in Science and Engineering Career Workshop will expose young women in grades 6-12 to career opportunities in science and technology.  In the morning, students will attend panels where women who are working scientists will answer qu3estions about their lives and careers.  Career Workshop panels are:  1. Dental Hygienist  2. Veterinarian, Psychiatrist, Physical, Forensic Scientist  3.  Diabetes, Nursing Educator, Pharmacist, Industrial Engineer, Biochemist   4.  Physician, Chemical Engineer, Physcial Therapist, Mechanical Engineer   5. Clinical Research Specialist, Mechanical Engineer, Chemist, Physical Therapist  6.  Neurophysiologist, Physical Therapist, Animal Care Technician, Mathematician                                                              7.  Special Topic, Women of Color in STEM.  The afternoon will be hands on activities and laboratory demonstrations.

                                               Registration:  8:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2020

                                              9:00 a.m. - Key Note Speaker - Dr. Michelle Goddard, PH.D., P.E.

                                            10:00 a.m. - Session 1

                                            10:45 a.m. - Session 2

                                            11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. - Lunch

                                            12:30 p.m. - Hands on Activities and Lab Demonstrations Session 1

                                              1:30 p.m. - Hands on Activities and Lab Demonstrations Session 2

                                          2:30 - 3 p.m. - Wrap-UP Session

Parents can also attend a meeting on Campus Tour, College Planning, and Financial Aid from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

The Warren Area Board of REALTORS is having a Community Home Week Essay Contest for students in 7th - 12 grade based on an essay theme of "How I Make My Community Better".  Winners will be selected based on originality, creativity, and theme.  Essays must be 500 words or less.  ESSAY ENTRY DEADLINE IS FRIDAY, APRIL 24, 2020.

                    First Prize = $300.00

                    Second Prize  = $ 200.00

Are you considering a career in engineering?  The University of Akron's 1 week residential summer camp is avaialbele for high school girls.  Overnight camp June 12-19, 2020 for $500.00 fee or Day Camp June 15-19, 2020 for $350.00 fee.  Regerster at uakron.edu/wie by March 31, 2020.  Stop in the School Counselors' Office for more details!

Kent State Trumbull is offering a session on Scholarships Search and Funding Your Education for High School Seniors and families.  They will answer questions like How are we going to pay for this?  How do we find scholarships?  When is the bill due?  What does my tuition include?

Two Sessions are being offered at Kent State Trumbull, Student Services Building Room 124

                     Wednesday, February 19th from 3-4 p.m.
