Bascom Elementary News

Preschool registration starts February 13, 2025 from 2-8pm.  No appointment is necessary for this date.  This is the only time when evening hours will be available.  For Wednesdays and Fridays in March, please call the office at 330-898-3041 to schedule an appointment to register.  The final day for preschool registration will be April 11, 2025.

✅ Must be a resident of LaBrae School District
✅ Transportation is not provided for our preschool program
✅ Preschool students MUST be potty trained
✅ Preschool students must be 3 or 4 years old by August 1, 2025.  4 year olds will be placed first.
✅ Income-eligible students will be considered first. Verification may be requested. See chart below:

200% of Federal Poverty Level Income Chart
Early Childhood Education funds are required to be used to provide preschool services to economically disadvantaged children whole family income falls at or below 200 percent of the federal level.

For each additional family member, add $10,760 at the 200% level.

You will need to have the following information to complete registration:

• Child’s birth certificate, social security card and current immunization record
• Valid driver’s license or state ID for parent/guardian registering the child 🪪
• Custody papers (if applicable) with court date and time stamp signed by the judge. Must submit complete document
• Proof of Income: W-2, 1040, 1040EZ, two most recent consecutive pay stubs
• Two (2) valid proofs of residency, one (1) MUST be a utility bill.

Valid proof of residency are as follows: Monthly mortgage statement, lease/rental agreement (must submit complete document including signature for both parties), purchase/construction contract, current pay stub, proof of car insurance, government assistance program paperwork, official voter registration card from Board of Elections, monthly bank statement. Nothing handwritten will be accepted (example: receipts, notes, etc.) Post Office Boxes are also not acceptable. We do not accept driver’s license, tax forms, or junk mail for proof of residency.

For children residing in the LaBrae School District who will be 5 years old (Kindergarten) by August 1, 2025, registration starts February 13, 2025 from 2-8PM with no appointment required.  This is the only time with evening hours will be available.  After this, please call the Bascom office at 330-898-3041 to register for Wednesdays and Fridays in March.  Kindergarten students must be registered by April 18th to participate in Kindergarten screening and be eligible for the summer Bounce Into Bascom program.

LaBrae residents who have a child that turns five years old after August 1st but before December 31, of the current school year may apply for screening to be considered for early entrance into kindergarten.  The needed forms can be found below or in the Bascom Elementary School office.  The completed referral form, early entrance surveys, and proof of residency should be turned in to the Bascom office or the Superintendent’s office.  Please refer any questions to the Bascom Principal, margaret [dot] kowachlabrae [dot] school (subject: Re%3A%20Early%20Entrance%20Into%20Kindergarten) (Maggie Kowach), at 330-898-3041.
