Do you want to be a 6th Grade Camp Counselor?

Any Junior interested in becoming a 6th Grade Camp Counselor the week of May 20th - 24th, please sign-up in the Middle School Office.  There is an application that will need to be filled out and turned in.  The deadline for sign-ups and application submission is November 21st.  If you have any questions, please see Mr. Hinzman in Room 611 in the Middle School.

Volunteers are needed on November 16th at Bascom for pie pick-up from 3:30 - 5:30 pm..  Sign up by November 15th in the Counselor's Office if you are able to help!!

It is important to find out what other information is required and send it to the admissions office ASAP.

Don't forget your confirmation page:

Before you log off the computer, make sure you have received confirmation that your application has been submitted.

Schools should contact you!

Check your email regularly, at least twice a week. Forward the information requested.

Where can I learn more about paying for college?

Talk to your counselor about state resources for financial aid.  In addition, the U.S. Department of Education has resources to help you.  How to apply for aid:  https://studentaid.gov/.

Speak with school counselor about your financial aid options.

Ask you counselor about upcoming FAFSA completion events.

If you haven't already, apply for your FSA ID so you can begin the FAFSA completion process do so soon.

Once you have your FSA ID, complete and submit the FAFSA as early as possible.  The sooner you submit the form, the better chance you have of getting an affordable financial aid package.

Bring in nonperishable food items to your first-period class to help others this Thanksgiving.  Bring in bonus items for triple points!  The winning homeroom gets a breakfast treat from LaBrae NHS. 

Bonus Items:

Instant mashed potatoes, 5lb. bag of potatoes, boxed stuffing, canned vegetables (corn, green beans, carrots, peas, yams/sweet potatoes), au gratin potatoes, canned cranberry, canned mushroom soup, gravy (packets or bottled), French fried onion topping.  All other items are one positive point.

If you are interested in writing & recording an essay about "What are the greatest attributes of our democracy", stop in the School Counselor's Office for an entry form!  The patriotic audio essay competition Grand Prize is $35,000.00. Deadline to apply is Today, October 31, 2023.

 

Kent State University...

Kent State application fees waived:  from October 1 through November 1, 2023!

Apply to Kent State for free through the Kent State App or the Common App.

Students will bypass the payment screens so no codes are needed.  Remember, Tomorrow. November 1st is the priority application date.

Attention Viking Volunteers:

Any student interested in signing up to be a Viking Volunteer will need to turn in their VV Form to Miss Nogales by Wednesday, November 1st.  If you did not attend the meeting, please stop in Miss Nogales's Office for a form.

 

NHS News:

LaBrae's Thanksgiving Food Drive started Today and will run through November 10, 2023.

Bring in nonperishable food items to your first-period class to help others this Thanksgiving.  Bring in bonus items for triple points!  The winning homeroom gets a breakfast treat from LaBrae NHS. 

Bonus Items:

Instant mashed potatoes, 5lb. bag of potatoes, boxed stuffing, canned vegetables (corn, green beans, carrots, peas, yams/sweet potatoes), au gratin potatoes, canned cranberry, canned mushroom soup, gravy (packets or bottled), French fried onion topping.  All other items are one positive point.

 

Soccer Banquet:

Banquet tickets are on sale through November 6th.  Players are free you just need to pick up your tickets, guest tickets will be $25 this year.  See Mrs. Brewster in the Attendance Office for your tickets!

 

Football Banquet:

The banquet is on November 9th.  Tickets are on sale through November 6th.  Players are free and guests are $20.  Pickup your tickets in the Attendance Office.

 

Volleyball Banquet:

The banquet will be November 16th @ Sorrento's.  Pickup your tickets in the Attendance Office through November 10th.  Guest tickets are $25.

 

VFW Voice of Democracy...

If you are interested in writing & recording an essay about "What are the greatest attributes of our democracy", stop in the School Counselor's Office for an entry form!  The patriotic audio essay competition Grand Prize is $35,000.00. Deadline to apply is Tomorrow, October 31, 2023.

 

Kent State University...

Kent State application fees waived:  from October 1 through November 1, 2023!

Apply to Kent State for free through the Kent State App or the Common App.

Students will bypass the payment screens so no codes are needed.  Remember, Wednesday. November 1st is the priority application date.

 

Picture Makeups/Retakes will be Tomorrow, October 31st.  Picture forms can be picked up in the office. 

 

Afternoon Detention will be with Mrs. Masters in Room 804 in the Middle School.  Please bring academic work to detention.
